有什麼經典的英語演講?


一個成功的演講,不僅語言優美、準確,而且能像指揮家一樣調動聽眾,在他們心中掀起熱情、憤怒、悲傷等等情緒,這才稱得上經典。以下四段演講,大家一起來品品。

1、富蘭克林·德拉諾·羅斯福(Franklin Delano Roosevelt),第32任美國總統,是美國二三十年代經濟危機和第二次世界大戰的中心人物之一。從1933年至1945年間,連續出任四屆美國總統,也是唯一連任超過兩屆的美國總統。

以下片段摘自《羅斯福爐邊談話·經濟篇》之四:On the Currency Situation。美國大蕭條時期,羅斯福利用剛剛興起的廣播媒介,向國民發表了一系列深入淺出的演講,稱為「爐邊談話」,獲得巨大反響,甚至影響了歷史的進程。這篇講話的主題是國內經濟形勢,羅斯福先介紹了就業率回升數據,然後進一步鼓勵聽眾為國家而奮鬥。

當然是葛。。。 肯尼迪就職演說

全篇解析如下:

We observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom --
symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning -- signifying renewal, as well as
change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our
forebears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.

這句話背誦的目的是讓你熟悉動詞ing形式的用法。這段話里的很多生詞都是非常常用的,可背。而且整個句子非常有氣勢。

The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the
power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet
the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue
around the globe -- the belief that the rights of man come not from the
generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

長短句結合的寫法值得學習。at issue / around the globe 都是很常用的片語。

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution.
Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that
the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans -- born in this
century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our
ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those
human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are
committed today at home and around the world.

注意alike的用法。另外後面的排比句寫法可以學習。中國人總是被英語長句子繞暈。其實長句子很簡單,把後面那些從句干擾項去掉,句子主幹就是 the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans,後面所有的排比都是在修飾這個new generation;與此同時,這句話本身也是作為word這個詞引申出來的從句。所以這段六行的超長句,就是let the word go forth.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay
any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any
foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

又是排比。簡潔明快的動詞使用,每個動詞都值得學習。

This much we pledge -- and more.

To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we
pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United there is little we cannot do in a
host of cooperative ventures. Divided there is little we can do -- for we dare
not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder.

United 是一個單詞就作為一個條件從句,這種用法不常見,但可以熟悉。Divided同樣。

To those new states whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our
word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be
replaced by a far more iron tyranny. We shall not always expect to find them
supporting our view. But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting
their own freedom -- and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly
sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.

最後一句話是玩火自焚的英語地道說法,可以記憶。另一個需要注意的是shall/should not have done sth的用法,這個用法我看過無數人用錯。

far more iron tyranny 多好的辭彙。什麼情況下用more 不用形容詞後面+er? 一般情況下就是形容詞有兩個以上音節的時候。

另外,shall, should, must 這三個詞如何區分?這也是一個語法重點和難點,如果你會完全正確使用(尤其是shall),基本就是大師級別了

To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to
break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help
themselves, for whatever period is required -- not because the Communists may be
doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free
society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are
rich.

Not because.. but because 作文中可以使用。最後一句話很有哲理,可以背誦。

To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge: to
convert our good words into good deeds, in a new alliance for progress, to
assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty. But
this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers. Let
all our neighbors know that we shall join with them to oppose aggression or
subversion anywhere in the Americas. And let every other power know that this
hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house.

cast off 片語記憶; 另外這段很多生詞都是非常常用的。

To that world assembly of sovereign states, the United Nations, our last
best hope in an age where the instruments of war have far outpaced the
instruments of peace, we renew our pledge of support -- to prevent it from
becoming merely a forum for invective, to strengthen its shield of the new and
the weak, and to enlarge the area in which its writ may run.

world assembly of sovereign states 多牛逼的說法,可以學習。又是排比句用法。

Finally, to those nations who would make themselves our adversary, we offer
not a pledge but a request: that both sides begin anew the quest for peace,
before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity
in planned or accidental self-destruction.

unleash engulf 多地道的辭彙 。 另外就是情態動詞 would / may / might 的用法,這是一組,和剛才shall / should / must 一組都需要熟練掌握。

不要指望一上來就把這兩組全吃透,我見過很多說了十幾年英語都沒吃透的。

We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient
beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be
employed.

But neither can two great and powerful groups of nations take
comfort from our present course -- both sides overburdened by the cost of modern
weapons, both rightly alarmed by the steady spread of the deadly atom, yet both
racing to alter that uncertain balance of terror that stays the hand of
mankind"s final war.

So let us begin anew -- remembering on both sides that civility is not a
sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never
negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.

最後一句 (let us never negotiate out of fear)又是簡潔明快,可以用在寫作和口語中。

Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those
problems which divide us.

Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals
for the inspection and control of arms, and bring the absolute power to destroy
other nations under the absolute control of all nations.

formulate proposals 正式商務辭彙,必須學習。目前為止上面幾段,都是正常的長句子

Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its
terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate
disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce.

又是排比句,而且動詞全是常用又好用

Let both sides unite to heed, in all corners of the earth, the command of
Isaiah -- to "undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free."1

先知以賽亞的名句也值得背誦

And, if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion,
let both sides join in creating a new endeavor -- not a new balance of power,
but a new world of law -- where the strong are just, and the weak secure, and
the peace preserved.

All this will not be finished in the first one hundred days. Nor will it be
finished in the first one thousand days; nor in the life of this Administration;
nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

這段話儘管只有一句,但是多簡潔明快?這就是英語長句的魅力,可以仔細鑽研學習。

Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and
South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will
you join in that historic effort?

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted
the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink
from this responsibility -- I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would
exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the

上面兩句話很經典,可以背誦

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask
of us here the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of

of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and
His help, but knowing that here on earth God"s work must truly be our own.

我是學經濟的,對經濟史比較感興趣。剛才碰巧在 YouTube 上聽到一段與上世紀末中美經貿有關的英語演講,感覺演講者挺有水平的。隨手查了下,網上似乎還沒有 transcript,所以自己做了一點微小的工作,放在下面。
